چکیده
Recent advances in realizing optical frequency combs using nonlinear parametric processes integrated photonic resonators have revolutionized on-chip clocks, spectroscopy, and multi-channel communications. At the same time, introduction of topological physics systems has provided a new paradigm to engineer flow photons, thereby, design devices with novel functionalities inherent robustness against fabrication disorders. Here, we use principles theoretically propose generation temporal Kerr solitons two-dimensional array coupled ring that creates synthetic magnetic field for photons exhibits edge states. We show these states constitute traveling-wave super-ring resonator leads coherent nested combs, self-formation Turing rolls are remarkably phase-locked over >40 rings. In soliton regime, our system operates as pulsed comb achieves mode efficiency >50%, an order magnitude higher than single limited only ~5%. Furthermore, robust defects lattice. This works parameter regime can be readily accessed existing low loss platforms like silicon-nitride. Our results could pave way efficient investigations various other solutions conjunction gauge fields phenomena large arrays resonators.

Terahertz laser frequency combs
The development of optical frequency combs has had a revolutionary impact on high-precision metrology and spectroscopy, and the development was recognized with a Nobel Prize in 2005. At visible and near-infrared frequencies, the combs are often formed based on mode-locked lasers whose periodic pulse trains in the time domain naturally lead to frequency combs from the duality relation in Fourier...

We argue that protein loops can be described by topological domain-wall solitons that interpolate between ground states which are the α helices and β strands. We present an energy function that realizes loops as soliton solutions to its equation of motion, and apply these solitons to model a number of biologically active proteins including 1VII, 2RB8, and 3EBX (Protein Data Bank codes). In all ...
متن کاملColloquium: Femtosecond optical frequency combs
Recently there has been a remarkable synergy between the technologies of precision laser stabilization and mode-locked ultrafast lasers. This has resulted in control of the frequency spectrum produced by mode-locked lasers, which consists of a regular comb of sharp lines. Thus such a controlled mode-locked laser is a ‘‘femtosecond optical frequency comb generator.’’ For a sufficiently broad com...
متن کاملTopological Q-solitons
Static topologically-nontrivial configurations in sigma-models, for spatial dimension D ≥ 2, are unstable. The question addressed here is whether such sigma-model solitons can be stabilized by steady rotation in internal space; that is, rotation in a global SO(2) symmetry. This is the mechanism which stabilizes Q-balls (non-topological solitons). The conclusion is that the Q-mechanism can stabi...
متن کاملTopological dragging of solitons.
We put forward properties of solitons supported by optical lattices featuring topological dislocations and show that solitons experience attractive and repulsive forces around the dislocations. Suitable arrangements of dislocations are even found to form soliton traps, and the properties of such solitons are shown to crucially depend on the trap topology. The uncovered phenomenon opens a new co...
